Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Crystal Palace Triumph at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, especially after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne team that had finished their domestic season proved no match against a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

Dominance Asserted from the Outset

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

Youngster Adam Wharton went close minutes later, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
