“It was unfortunate. It was kind of an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “Present was a large group of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The whole venue was brimming with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally clarified that the gesture was completely accidental, happening amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I just showed the wrong digit,” he noted. “It was inadvertently done. This is sincere. Should you call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
League Precedent for Proprietor Fines
