Puzzling Magenta Ooze on Isolated Tasmanian Coast Raises Fears of Potential Algae Outbreak

Authorities in Tasmania are working to identify a rosy sludge that has appeared on a remote shoreline, with certain experts worried it could be an algal bloom.

The pink-tinged sludge materialized across a stretch of Randalls Bay about 37 miles south of the capital. A comparable ooze has also been noted on sections of a nearby shore and an additional coastal site.
