Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his first title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
